ERMHS - EDUCATIONALLY RELATED MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES

Students with disabilities may be eligible for educationally related mental health services (ERMHS) as determined by the students' IEP teams. The East Valley SELPA and its member districts provide ERMHS for eligible students with disabilities. Most of the member districts provide services for mild to moderate needs while the East Valley SELPA Behavioral Health Counselors provide services for students with the most intensive needs. These services can include psychosocial assessments, mental health treatment planning, individualized therapeutic counseling services, prevention, collaboration, consultation, and referrals.

As determined by the IEP team, the East Valley SELPA licensed clinical therapists provide intensive individualized therapy/support to assist students in managing emotional or behavioral challenges that are negatively impacting their educational performance. East Valley SELPA Behavioral Health Counselors are highly trained professionals and use evidence-based methods to meet the needs of the students with disabilities.
